Road Trip

After my plan went awry, and in large part due to my lack of overall hiking motivation on this trip, we decided to take the opportunity to jump off the trail and do some road tripping through the ‘dacks instead.

Our first night was spent in the car at a trail head as it was too late to book a room at any of the towns nearby. But then we picked up our pace and spent a great day at Inlet followed by a couple of nights in Old Forge. In addition to some good meals we managed to fit a day of Kayaking in and even caught a movie.

After a rainy car camping day we headed to Long Lake and spent two great nights at the Adirondack Hotel, making sure to grab Irish Coffees at The Blarney Stone and pizza at The Cellar. Then it was on to Lake Placid to meet our folks for the holiday weekend.

Even though we cut the hike short this year, actually, in some ways because we cut the hike short this year, I have to admit to really enjoying this trip. Exploring and getting to know some of these other areas and towns is always a lot of fun. It helps to give a broader view of the Adirondacks and increases my appreciation of it all.
