Jess
This was our last full day on the trail. Started out from Cold River, stopped for a nice lunch where we met a friendly guy out for a couple of nights with his dog. What a great dog she was. So well behaved. Would love to have one just like her. Ended today at Duck Hole. Very nice, if overused, spot. Another long day behind us, and another long one ahead of us tomorrow. Just over 12 miles to Lake Placid and we’re done. Sad for many reasons.

Today’s hike was really enjoyable. Big Eddy is always a treat and this year it was full and the falls were swollen. It was a bit too cold for me but Jess was braver than I and took a dip. A few miles down the trail we met a really friendly guy at Ouluska Lean-to and enjoyed the company of his dog Allison (Ellison?) for quite sometime before moving on. Then a little ways past this lean-to is the area of Noah John Rondeau’s Hermitage which is always fun to explore.
And of course the hike ended in Duck Hole which is one of the gems of this part of the Adirondacks. Ended up being a beautiful night and we slept in the tent with a clear, star filled sky above us.
